I will say I've used 5 different tranny fluids (Syncroshift II, Redline, Castrol syntorq, oem) and I just tried Amsoil MTG. It is the smoothest shifting fluid I've had yet for daily driving.

My Dad owns a shop and also has hook ups on AMS OIL ;D guess Ill be trying that!!

I am running the same thing in my evo.

I just got my trans back from shepard and am running the Amsoil 75-90 manual transaxle gear lube. I paid $11.83 a quart for it from Pand L Motorsports since they were the ones installing the clutch and they had it on hand. Here is a link to the stuff I am using.

My brother in law just bought a 2002 Nissan Sentra SER Spec V with the 6spd manual trans and we drained his fluid and filled with the same 75-90 Amsoil manual transaxle gear lube I linked above. The car shifted very well as it was before and I really did not notice any difference in how it shifted after with the Amsoil. The car was just purchased by him so I have no way of knowing what was in it previously although I can say with certainty it was some form of 80-90 weight gear lube by the smell and viscosity.

One of my friends swears by the GM syncromesh fluid and wanted us to put that in my brother in laws car but I did not feel comfortable doing that since the owners manual calls for 80-90 weight gear lube.

The MTG fluid is highly recommended for the tranny and the SVG (Severe Gear) is recommended for the Rear diff and TC.

I have used the GM and Penzoil Synchromesh and they work well but lose strength after about 10k miles.

I will be ordering all my fluids for my 60K service through ATL. Looking forward to getting some new diff and tranny fluid in there! I'm sure my car is screaming at me as we speak.

Glad you mentioned that the severe gear is reccomended for the rear diff as I was just going to use the same stuff I put in the trans.

Also, Mitsu says to go 5k for the first and every oil change. It comes with mobil one stock. Should I be changing it out sooner? I was kind of thinking of a 2.5k + 2.5K change to stay on schedule.

The SVG is recommended by AMSOIL for both the TC and the rear diff. If you have diaqueen already then it will work in both as well. You can't go wrong with either.

Honestly, for the M1 5000k is a good mileage to change at, from my experiance. I always recommend sending your oil to get analyzed to "tailor" your oil change mileage based on your driving style and environment. It cost about $25 and can give you valuable information regarding your engine.

The van is currently running SSO and will do the same. This will test the vans own oil sensor, help me watch the vans engine as it gets higher mileage and let me know if I can run the SSO longer, which is suspected.

I like using real data from my own vehicles to back up marketing.

I'm anal so I changed mine after the 600-mile break-in, and again at 3k, 6k, and 10k to get me on schedule for the 5k-mile change interval. Getting ready to do my 15k change soon and still debating if I'm going to use the Amsoil I won in the Christmas raffle for that .

If you are at 2k, I would go ahead a do a change now. Then if you want to change again to get on a schedule, that is up to you. I do not feel it is needed, but personal preference.
