I did this a few months ago. All the trim pieces and roof liner that were gray are now black. Has anyone else done this or seen it? It looks AMAZING! I will post up pics when I get the time to. If any one wants to do it and needs a write up, hit me up. Its easier than you think. If you have one weekend that you dont need your car, thats all you need. Start to finish.

    What you will need...
    -17mm wrench
    -14mm wrench
    -10mm socket
    -12mm socket
    -Ratchet with short extension
    -Phillips head screwdriver
-2 small, thin flat head screwdrivers
-At least 6 cans of black spray paint of your choice. (I used the DUPLICOLOR TRIM AND FABRIC. I like it BUT it is a little more shinny than the rest of the interior.

    1. Remove A-pillar. All you gotta do is pull on it.
    2. Remove B-pillar. For this you will have to remove the front and rear
kick panels. All you have to do is pull up on them as well. Dont worry
if you leave a couple clips in the body. For instal, all you will have to do
is slide the panel in. Remove the lower portion of the B-pillar by pulling
    out on it.
    3. Remove the seat belt. You will need to pull the cover of the top part of
the seat belt. You will then remove the 17mm bolt that holds in the top.
If you so desire, you may completly remove the
seat belt. To do that remove the 14mm bolt and 17mm bolt at the
lower part of the seat belt. REMEMBER WHICH SIDE IS WHICH!!!! If
you instal the driver side seat belt on the passenger side (and vice
versa) the seat belt will lock out. You will not be able to pull out on the
seat belt. If you did so, simply switch and you will be fine.
    [/IMG]

    4. Remove top portion of B-pillar. Just pull out on the top, and pull up.
    5. Remove C-pillar. For this you will have to remove the rear seat. To do
this, find the plastic tabs under the seat. There is one on both sides,
driver and passenger. Pull out on the tab and pull up on the bottom seat
Pull the seat out. To remove the back part of the seat you will need to
remove the 3 12mm bolts. Pull the seat out. Once the seat is removed,
    pull out on the C-pillar.
    6. Remove front light fixture. Remove the clear plastic that covers the
exposing the 2 10mm bolts. Remove. Open the sunglass holder
exposing the screw. Remove. Lower fixture and un-plug. *** If you
choose to be anal like I am and want to remove the middle light switch
to paint seperatly like I did... BE CAREFULL...There is a spring that
holds a ball bearing. You do NOT want to lose that... I know...
    7. Remove the middle light fixture. Remove the clear plastic that covers
the bulbs exposing the bolt. Remove. Lower and unplug.
    8. Remove "OH SH!T" handles. Lower the handles and remove the two
covers on both left and right side exposing the 2 10mm bolts. Remove
    and off comes the handle.
    9. Remove sun visors. Remove the two screws from the visor assembly.
It will come right out. Now the visor clip will be a a little pain. Here you
will have to insert two very thin and small flat head screwdrivers, one
on each side to release the clip inside. As you are squeezing the clip,
pull down and it will pop out.
    10. Remove headliner. Here comes the tricky part. In the roof liner are 6
white plastic female clips that the top of each trim piece clips in to.
Remove all clips. Then there are three clips on the rear of the headiner.
The headliner will now be seperated from the roof. You still have to
seperate the wiring for the lights from the roof liner. Just play with it
you will get it. Now to take it out. I found it easiest to take it out from
the passenger rear door. You will have to play around with it. You will
even have to bend the liner but not too much to put a permanent
crease in it. (But even if you do crease it, it will not be noticable since
    it will be painted black.)
Now you are ready to paint. The only prep work I did was wash everything
with Dawn dish soap, rinse thouroughly and dry immediatly. Rubbing alcohol will work great too. Do not touch the surface to be painted with your bare fingers as you will still leave oil on the surface. If you paint the seat belt and the "oh sh!t" handles you should sand with very fine sandpaper. Since those pieces are not textured like the rest of the trim, you will not mess anything up by sanding it. I didnt prep the roofliner at all and it looks fine but a good cleaning wont hurt it. You just have to take time to dry it out into consideration.
As far as the painting is concerned, I did 3 coats total to all trim. The first coat was just a sprinkle. I didnt totally coat the piece. The other two coats were for that. For the headliner, I used 3 cans. I sprayed until all streaks were gone. I would let everything dry for a good 24 hrs. so you dont risk scratching the paint and so the paint wont make you high while you are driving...unless you want...

Once that is all done, just reassemble how you took it all apart.

Sorry there arent that many pics. I lost a few of them.

This may seem like a lot of work but total tear down time was about an hour. It was alot easier than I thought it would be. Happy painting!!

Looks good! I hate how the Lancer / Evo has the two-tone interior. It looks so much better with the pillars and all all-black. Again, good job

I hate how the trim piece thats the middle of the dash is gloss black. It shows everything. I think I'm going to try to paint it the matching silver.

The only issue that I have had with peeling paint is the seat belt where the belt rubs whenever I put it on. But that is obviously to be expected. Also when I had painted the visors, i didnt allow enough time to dry so when i took the tape off, a little paint peeled off. But thats where the mirror is in the visor so I didnt that was much of a big deal. But other than those minor issues, nothing is wrong with the paint at all.

I used the DUPLICOLOR TRIM AND FABRIC paint. Went on realy nice and even. I got it at Checkers when I lived in Hawaii. I dont know where to get it now since I am in Kentucky but I would assume Auto Zone. Just look for a trim and fabric paint.

Oh hell yeah! Bayfest was awesome! I always had a good time. Get hammered, watch concerts, throw up, get hammered again, finish the concerts, then attempt to walk to the barracks. In that order too.

It really is easy to do. The hardest part is putting it all back together because now you have to be careful of the paint. But other wise, a cave man can to it...
