Can any of you "real" hunting guys tell me what would be a good scope to upgrade to for my .177 rifle? Right now I have a cheapo scope on there and I'd like a better one.

And here's my gun (without that scope)

My housemates and I may or may not have perched up from the 2nd floor bathroom and super-sniped some squirrels that continuously raided our garbage...
I think you are fighting a loosing battle sniping them one at a time. But if you want to thin the heard slowly try a trap, even you can't miss from point blank range.
ROFL! sorry scott, but this story has me rolling. keep us posted.![]()
This story made me laugh really hard!
I just looked online and everyone seems to say nothing really works but one guy suggested putting food out for them then shooting them when they go to eat it. Another story pointed out that if you don't get rid of the dead squirrel then the others will eat it and that attracts more.
Good Luck
ahahah thanks
Yeah I've talked to a lot of people and some exterminators and they say squirrels are really hard to control- especially in areas where it's illegal to kill them aka Johnson County (where I live).
I don't want to trap them and shoot them as that just kinda seems to crude for my liking- and the food thing I've kinda tried with these crab apples they eat but they are everywhere so mine aren't any better then the ones in the trees.
The way I see it- is I do need to try and control the population as best I can, but I'm going to be somewhat fair to the squirrel lol- I'm going to pit my marksmanship and stealth against their camo, quickness, elusiveness- and see who wins.
Yesterday was a big loss for me. lol
get them at their own game! feed them something different for a couple of weeks, squirrels love pecans, then hunt them. if they go to the other side of the tree so you can't see them, throw a twig or rock behind them and shoot them when they come around the tree.
^^^That works! They are on the opposite side of the trunk and when they hear the twig hit the ground behind em, they will come right to you!
oh, i know. i've had my fair share of run-ins with squirrels as well. mine was 4 or so years ago when i was a freshman living on campus at Missouri State University though. they were freaking EVERYWHERE. they'd freaking fight each other 40 feet up in the trees and plummet to the ground, in a cloud of fur and dust like in cartoons, and sprint off in seperate directions as soon as they hit the earth. this kid caught one and had it in his room for months. he was deemed the "Squirrel Master" for obvious reasons.![]()
bahahahaha dang!!! See that's what I want to do with an Armadillo!!! ahaha
BTW I took a squirrel out today after work.
