    i have a evo 9 MR it has trouble starting up, it has ams intercooler bigger turbo with boost controler nd ful turbo catback exhaust, nd purple/blue HID lights, i just got the car of auction, and when i got it it was fine to jump it everything worked good and now its cant turn on i even put in a new battery it saids on the dash it has 12 volts in battery and still wont turn, i tryed to jump it and it cant work while i jump it, is it maybe the alternator? does it need to have more the 90amps? i took it to advanced auto parts they said it has resistance or something needs to be replaced so idk what to do. or even if it is the alternator, would it get bad if i put in a new one since the car is like 400 hp. can some one please help.

    also the car has one of those smalll batteries it only weighs 15lbs

    I have a evo 9 MR it has trouble starting up, the mods on it are, ams intercooler, bigger turbo with boost controler nd ful turbo catback exhaust, nd purple/blue HID lights, I purchased the car of auction, when i got it the car would not start so i jump started it and it worked fine for like a day and now it cant turn on i even put in a new battery the car turned on the first few times on its own so i left it there, and i just went out to try to turn it on and it cant turn over it saids on the dash inside the battery has 12 volts and still wont turn on, I tryed to jump it and it would not turn on with a jump, is it maybe the alternator? Does it need to have more the 90amps on the alternator? I took it to advanced auto parts they said the alternator has resistance that it is not converting AC to DC, they told me that needs to be replaced so idk what to do, even if it is the regular alternator would it get bad if i put in a new one since the car is like 400 hp. can some one please help.

    Thats not much better. The car wont crank at all or it wont run once it starts? It sounds like your saying it wont crank. That has nothing to do with the alternator. My guess is the starter.

    Turn the key to the on position. Have a frient push the car while you hold in the clutch. Let the clutch out and see if it starts. If it does then sounds like you need a starter. Like chris said the alternator is simple a reharger, has nothing to so with cranking the car or it starting.

    Check all of your fuses before you replace anything else. There is no point in throwing new parts at the car if you're not 100% positive what the problem is.

    If it turns out that the fuses are fine, does the starter click when you turn the key? Or is there nothing?

    Just because the car has 12 Volts doesn't mean that it has the amps needed to turn the engine over. But I have had tons of issues with small battery's. A lot of times you should be able to hear a ticking from the starter if there is not enough power to turn it over.

    Yeah i tryed to push start it, did not work. But i took the second set of keys they look older and the car turned on right away. I dont know what the deal was with they keys but they looked exactly alike.

    Thanks for all the help. Also i have another question if anyone can help, the car has a psi gauge and when i floor it goes to from -15 to 15 psi how many hp does this evo have approximatly? not really sure how many it is.

    I got this car of an auction, and i do know about boost 1psi=10hp. I have a STI also. But i dont know if this is a stock turbo or not i can put a pic up of this turbo and the boost controller. The car also has the exhaust system.

    Well try adjusting the boost controller and see if the boost goes up and then go from there!

    why are you telling him to adjust his boost controller? he has start up problems, and he has 150 extra hp because his psi gauge goes to 15 so he wants to know his cars HP rating...

    Lol i thought one if his complaints were it was only going to 15. Also that pic is super small can't really see anything. If you wanna know how much AWHP it has just throw it on a dyno and do a few pulls!
