Hey everyone. I ordered up new giro disc pads and rotors. The pads came so I put them in while the car is in the air waiting for other stuff. I removed the brake fluid resevior cap. I did the brake job and went to put the cap on and the fluid is litereally to the top now somehow. I never seen this happen to me before. Do I just hit the brakes, then start the car up. Will the fluid go back to normal level? or did air get in it somehow from pushing the pistons in... Thanks.

It should have evened itself out. Did you add any fluid recently? When the pads wear down it gives the apperance that the fluid is low when its really not.

Try to bleed them, all four corners. That should release any air if there is by chance some in there.

When you contracted the piston in the caliper the fluid went back up the lines into the reservoir.

Before bleeding them, get it all put back together and then pump the brakes and see how the pedal feels. Most of the time when you contract the calipers they end up opening farther than they need to be and will look like it is over full. Then when you pump the brakes and the pads make contact as mentioned before, the fluid should be within the normal range.

Thanks guys, that is kind of what I figured but I just wanted to make sure. When the rotors arrive hopefully today or tommorrow I will get them on and pump the brakes. Hopefully the level goes back to normal.

Also got the discolored flaking red calipers a nice new coat of black paint, red brembo decals and some clear coat! Will post a picture of b4 and after for you fellas.

In the future, try to avoid having this happen on a car with ABS. You really don't want to risk having any crud go back up the system and jam a valve in the ABS unit. Much better to crack a bleeder when retracting pistons for new pads, even if this causes you to have to bleed.

It should have evened itself out. Did you add any liquid recently? When the shields use down it gives the visual appearance that the liquid is low when its really not. . . . . . . . . . . .
